September 2010
Having registered as a charity and set up a Board of Trustees in the UK, we needed to do the same in Zimbabwe. We are now in the process of doing that, and once we have permission from the authorities there, we will proceed with establishing the children's home, and at the same time start implementing a range of fund-raising activities in the UK.
The plan is to purchase a plot of land and construct a village of mud huts on it. A suitable plot has become available near Bonda Mission in Nyanga, which would be ideal in terms of the children's education and medical needs. The huts would have electricity and water, as well as providing familiar surroundings for the children. Over time, and if staff and funds are available, another village would be built nearby.
For more detail on all this, do take a look at Mazzy's Blog.
Patron
Once the fund-raising activities start, which we hope will be in a few months time, we shall also start looking for a patron.
Malaika
The first village will be called 'Malaika', which means "little angels".
